I need to pick this book up. I have been on a NK Jemisin kick lately! Her Fifth Season is amazing and I just finished theCity WE Became and loved it as well.
I am so excited to pick this collection up! Also thank you for the dedication ☺️ I have always thought of afro-futurism as scifi that is inclusive of a black future since so much of scifi ignores black people in their stories. But I have not done the research you have done so I am excited to see your journey and to get some recs!
The great thing about fantasy as a genre is that there are so many subgenres and so many "levels" of fantasy. Whatever type of fiction you normally enjoy, there's almost certainly a fantasy subgenre that correlates so I think it makes it really easy to get into. That's why I can read almost exclusively fantasy without getting bored.
