Her work and can be appreciated even more now with the astonishing political climate of this presidential election year and just the overall strange phenomenon that we call “Two thousand and twenty”. Octavia Butler was an amazing author. Her writing is visionary, insightful and ahead of her time. Yet it speak s so much about the issues of today.

For a long time, even up until the 90s, Black bookstores in my area didn’t carry books by Octavia or Audre Lorde because they were lesbian.
This is why too many folks don’t know their names, though I know many more do today.
Thanks for raising up Octavia Butler today! ❤

Just FYI, @blackexcellist… Thumbnail says this vid is about Nichelle Nichols not Octavia Butler. 😉

She approved my theory when I was 12.(scary I'm almost 100%) She told me my name is hope for black people. 34 now, I lived what no one has ever gone through from slander to the loss of hundreds of millions. She is I and magic is real.

Great story of this Prolific writer…. however; it seems to me much of her story ideas and subject matters have been adopted or stolen by other film makers and writers without giving her original credit. I can think of several movies series that sounds like they came directly from this famous author.

Hey can you do a video on black student athletes or something around black athletes who still have high gpa or side hustles too.

@nakiadeonpresents6488

My absolute favorite writer!
We need to storm Hollywood and demand we get not only movies from her books but also a bio pic.

Great video. Imagine if they'd given her the kind of wide spread publicity they gave to writers like Stephen King. Also the title of the book is "Fledgling", with an L in each syllable, not "fledging".

Wow. I used to live in Pasadena. I went to Pasadena High school. She went to John Muir. Muir wasn't considered a good high school academically. It's a shame I have never heard of this lady.
