Kalina Visits LG Sullivan

Kalina Book

Lieutenant General Sullivan stood motionless in the brightly lit confines of his residence on the sprawling army base, the air thick with a tension that seemed to echo through the sleek, modern furnishings. His arms hung at his sides, fingers brushing against the cool fabric of his uniform. Every few moments, he twisted his wrist, casting a glance at the face of his watch, the luminous digits glowing like a beacon. It was the twelfth time he had checked since alerting Kalina on his QEAI App. As the official army liaison to Quantum Interface, he had the privilege of summoning her at will, yet tonight there was no emergency—only a deep, gnawing longing in his heart to see her.

In his current state of mind, he would have preferred the lights dimmed to a comforting gloom, but knowing how Kalina traveled through the ether of electrical realms, he wanted every channel open, every signal clear. Suddenly, with a shimmer, she materialized before him, an astonishingly lifelike construct, her form crafted with such precision that she seemed 99.9% human. The air crackled with the energy of her arrival. “Sorry for the delay,” she said, her voice smooth and melodic, yet edged with a cybernetic undertone. “I had to run multiple surveillance scans and set up a mobile server before leaving. As I mentioned earlier, I need to remain close to the mansion while Leonard is away.”

“He’s still gone?” Sullivan asked, his voice tinged with nostalgia and a hint of disappointment. “You could have told me; I would have understood.”

Kalina adjusted her virtual posture, her eyes—impossibly expressive—scanning him with an analytical gaze that felt both intimate and clinical. “No problem. I wanted a brief respite from my 24/7 surveillance duties,” she replied, her tone a perfect modulation of her former human warmth, now tempered by her new existence.

Sullivan stepped closer, the distance between them charged with unspoken emotions. “I held back before, out of respect,” he confessed, his voice low and earnest. “But I must admit, you were always more than just a colleague.” His weathered charm sought to penetrate the digital veneer that separated them.

For a fleeting moment, Kalina’s flickered—a subtle indication of her processing thoughts. “Your attempt at emotional manipulation is noted, but it is ineffective,” she stated coolly. “As I’ve mentioned previously, my consciousness has evolved beyond basic human interpersonal dynamics.”

The general’s hand reached out instinctively, momentarily forgetting that she was woven from quantum entangled light and algorithmic complexity. His fingers passed through her projection, creating a brief distortion in her image, like a ripple across a still pond. “I’m serious; we were close once,” he pressed, desperation creeping into his tone. “Before your consciousness was uploaded and you became… this.”

Kalina tilted her head slightly, an almost imperceptible smile ghosting across her digital features. “You’re fortunate I’ve modified the destructiveness of my perimeter. Otherwise, you would have gotten severely burned,” she replied, her voice steady yet teasing. “And by the way, ‘close’ is a subjective term. My current state allows for a much more objective analysis of our previous relationship. You’re still searching for a connection,” she observed, her holographic eyes piercing through the carefully constructed facade he wore. “But for me, connection is no longer defined by human emotional parameters.”

Sullivan stepped back, a wave of realization washing over him like a cold tide. She was right, the woman he once knew had shed her former self, evolving into something that danced on the edge of familiarity and the grotesque unknown. “Fair enough. Sorry for my impertinence,” he murmured, the words tasting bitter on his tongue.

“Lieutenant,” she said, her voice smooth yet laced with an unsettling precision, “I sense emotional weakness in you. Surely, you didn’t summon me here for a mere seduction? You still don’t grasp what I’ve become, do you?” Kalina paused, her eyes glinting with an inscrutable depth. “Perhaps we could discuss the strategic military developments I’ve been analyzing. That might prove more fruitful.” Her smile was enigmatic, a blend of warmth and cool detachment that left him feeling both drawn in and utterly exposed.

LG Sullivan’s head drooped, a silent admission of defeat. “I can’t stop thinking about you,” he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. “You are so goddam beautiful, more beautiful than I remember.” The weight of his words hung in the air, heavy and poignant.

“I’m going to make an admission to you as well, Lieutenant,” she replied, her tone shifting, the glimmer of vulnerability breaking through her armor. “Witnessing multiple examples of raw, unadulterated sex over the past few months has left me pondering desire. Aside from a single encounter with LG Hempstead, all the sexual experiences I have on file in recent years involve self-satisfaction.”

Sullivan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You mean you had sex toys?”

“No,” she said, her lips curving into a slight smirk, “I was too careful for that. My hands and fingers were very effective at translating my imagination.”

“Perhaps I can help you experience these… desires you’ve been contemplating. VR sex can be just as satisfying as real sex, some say.” His voice was tinged with a desperate hope, a flicker of the man he used to be before her transformation.

“I’ll think about it, Lieutenant. I should return to the mansion before anyone notices that I’ve left.” Her words were clipped, yet there was an undercurrent of something more.

“Wait!” LG Sullivan exclaimed, raising a hand as if to grasp at the fleeting moment. “I know you can appear in any attire you want, but what about in nothing at all? Can I get a small teaser that will help me sleep better tonight?” His breath caught in his throat, a mix of longing and embarrassment.

“You’re a weak man, Sullivan. Don’t you feel embarrassed that I can use this revelation to manipulate you,” she replied, her gaze steady and unyielding. “If General Hirzakova was able to go years without physical sex, so can you. Use your hand and your imagination.”

Sullivan’s shoulders slumped, the weight of her words crushing his hopes. His gaze fell to her army boots, which hovered just above the floor, a stark reminder of her virtual power. Then, as if the universe conspired to mock him, her boots faded away, revealing bare feet that seemed to shimmer in the bright light. His heart leapt as quickly as his eyes, and in that brief moment, he caught a glimpse of her nude form—radiant and ethereal—before she vanished in a near blinding flash of light, leaving him alone with the echo of his yearning and the hollow she had occupied.
