So i was googling some of my artwork as I'm redoing my portfolio, and I saw your thumbnail pop up and it made me laugh so hard. I'm actually the illustrator that did this cover and Escaping Exodus, so your recreation was amazing to see, haha. I know we're nearly into 2025, so i'm a BIT LATE, but I still wanted to drop a comment XD!

Happy to find your review! The brain, the lime tart, and the divergent views on a common scene were a highlight of this book for me as well. I missed Adalla too! Didn't enjoy it as much as the first book, and sometimes I felt like even through the two POVs were distinct characters, their voices overall were quite similar so there were times they blended together for me narratively. Rosewater is on my TBR so you've made me even more curious!

Hey, you! I just finished reading this and popped over to your channel because I was interested to hear your thoughts and reflections. I echo a lot of your sentiments – the stuff you found interesting I found interesting and the stuff that bothered you bugged me, too. I think on the whole, I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first one and, while I love the world, the basic premise and Drayden’s general, over-all inventiveness, I didn’t so much love the characters, the writing quality, the pacing, and the lack of verisimilitude. I really wish I had liked this one more. I will, however, continue to read Drayden’s work. I haven’t yet read The Prey of the Gods and I look forward to checking that out. Thanks for the super thoughtful review. I loved hearing your thoughts and impressions & noticing what you highlit. I was especially curious about your thoughts on, ahem, Khasina. 😉

Thanks for the review! I just read Escaping Exodus so it was great to hear your thoughts about whether to continue. I'm bummed Adalla isn't a narrating character anymore but the new world building sounds very interesting!

I feel like I need to reread this before reading this. I'm going to read it for myself, but this kind of bums me out. I had really high hopes for this.

Haven't read either book yet so I'm gonna save this one for a later date… but I wanted to leave a comment anyway… so… Hi! Have a great evening!
