These a great recommendations! The Parable of the Sower is one I need to reread. Sower, by the way, rhymes with “rower” and “lower” as the protagonist sows seeds. It doesn’t sound like “sour,” which is what I heard in this video. I share this with the best of intentions, and hope you find it helpful!

Have you ever read the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman? It's definitely more YA than adult, but it's SO GOOD, it's one of my favourite book series ever

May I also humbly suggest Brave New World by Aldus Huxley? Very old but still very timely

My book club was pretty disappointed with I Who Have Never Known Men. But we did have some great convos about it. Also, I’m reading 1984 again. Haven’t read it in 15+ yrs and it’s wild what I’m taking from it now vs then.

Everything you ever wanted sounds super interesting. I guess the reality tv show element is what hooks me

I read a few snippets of 1984 in school but I properly read animal farm – its set in a farm where the pigs uprise against humans promising that it will be more equal but thru keep breaking there own rules and basically being worse than the humans. All animals are eaual but some are more equal than others is the only commandment remaining by the ebd lf the novel

1984 My Elder Brother Loved it!!!

@seelistenlearnm7859

I love I Who Have Never Known Men, you should make a video on it.

@taramichelleyoung6492

I was also in the position of needing to fill the gap Sunrise on the Reaping left and so I have started reading Parable of the Sower on a friend’s recommendation! Love this list

Love your videos. I just started watching them. A really good book, like Hunger Games, was Surviving Antarctica by Andrea White. I absolutely loved this book as much as the Hunger Games series. Thanks again.

@Person-in-training-20

Dude I finished that today in schoooool 😭😭😭 I’m so happy I didn’t start crying in front of my entire class though!❤😂

I just finished Sunrise yesterday and I’m definitely not emotionally recovered, but I stopped reading 1984 in order to read it (and because I was struggling with it a bit despite it being a great book) and I need to pick it back up!

Parable of the Talents (sequel to sower) is scarily accurate to now. Octavia Butler somehow predicted MAGA and that whole issue-

Your videos have me delving into the entire Hunger Games series! Do you think at some point you might do a list of "death game"-adjacent recs in addition to dystopians in general? I mean to look into Battle Royale at some point in my own future.
