Indigenous people also owned black slaves. But that’s another subject all together.

Definitely picking up that book 📖

"Children of the Soil" – love this, thank you for sharing. I started reading the New Jim Crow but ran out of time on the library loan, you have made me want to try the audiobook!

That’s true my 10th great grandmother Molly Welsh was a indentured servant and she was from Great Britain. If you love the New Jim Crow you will love Caste: the origins of our discontent by Isabel Wilkerson.

My name is R.James J.
I am a black author my first book is named "Its a mess I tell ya" its on amazon.

I need to read The New Jim Crow already. I’m currently read The Underground Railroad and it’s covering a lot of what you mention is covered in The New Jim Crow, but through fiction.

Hi I am a new author and just published my first book. It is called “It’s Just a Mickey Situation “ By Drucilla Hawkins it’s an urban fiction that is available on all platforms Amazon, Barnes and Noble, e-book, Apple Books, and Google books. I don’t know where to start with promotions and was wondering if you would give me a review. What will I have to do and how can I get you a copy to read.

I love the fact that I came on here to grab the questions for the ‘black booktuber tag’ and instead I was given such insight into American black history. Of course, I know the basics of slavery and indigenous people, but this was super insightful – thank you girl!✨🙏🏾❤️

This is why I wrote my book because I wanted to shine light on the Illness and guide anyone that's going through the sickness. It's a short novel that's entertaining but with a message…I love stories with messages and awarenesses. I was inspired by my childhood when I would see plays or tv shows that were so entertaining. Also that spoke my language…that's the way I see my art form being very witty, personable, relatable, and experienced of the messages that I'm writing about…I want to put chronic Illness on the map and I want to change the perception…I want more support for us…So  please my community, friends,  family, followers, and lurkers 😂 if you are a reader please support my movement. It's available on Amazon as an ebook, short novel, and 45 minute long. I did an ebook version because people are into their phones. I do everything on my phone. I have all kinds of reads on my phone. Thankyou Fabs 📚📚📚 P.S I GOT MORE BOOKS COMING SOON Love Queen Alikahttps://www.amazon.com/s?k=Aaliyah+Invisible+Illness&ref=nb_sb_noss

I read The New Jim Crow a few years ago and WHEW. So important. The whole part about creating the divide between poor white people and poor Black people… so informative and eye-opening. Like it's really so obvious, but that history was entirely hidden/erased.

I'm a new subscriber and this is my first video of yours and I just wanna say I think it's so cool you're studying history. I never cared about it before because I always had horrible teschers and they really limited us. I love history now.
I've been wanting to read The New Jim Crow for so long but Overdrive doesn't have it so I can't find it right now but it has been bumped up from your talk ahout it and it sounds so interesting! I'm glad the author spoke about indigenous Americans because they get left out so much.

Avatar. I felt like the look said "you KNOW I'm not talking about that damn movie" 😂😂
You are amazing! Thank you for being so inspiring. I'm also a mom of tiny humans, working and schooling and while I love to read, I just cannot find the time to physically read. I've been doing Audible for some time now, but a goal I'm trying to work towards is carving out the time to physically read books.

Oooh you're studying history! That's amazing! You're so multitalented! YES I need to read little and lion! It looks so interesting! I don't normally read nonfiction, but I might pick up The New Jim Crow. I, obviously, am not black, so I'm trying to read as much as I can to educate myself. I recently was watching the documentary about the OJ Simpson case, and although I believe he did it (the evidence really doesn't suggest anything else), the backdrop of it is so important, with the riots and how OJ won the criminal trial and the LAPD. Yes, our school never goes too deep. Wait, I never knew that slavery wasn't necessary. WHAT?!? Oh my god I just learned so much. Thanks Monae. I really wish my middle school talked more about this spending four months on the 13th colonies. Oooh Queene has such a beautiful cover! I own Children of Blood and Bone! I really need to get to it, huh? Loved this video!
