Loved this book, was my best read of the year, so excited to read Rivers' next book. I will say I think this story should have been a trilogy – the ending was a little rushed for me.

Wow…. I have learned so much. I usually take notes…but you have taught me something new regarding annotation. I think I'm going to follow your cues regarding note taking. I always admire organized people, but I doubt I could ever be as organized. I love your channel so much by the way. I just learned about it. I can't stop watching LOL

I love to annotate books as well. However, I have been inconsistent in my method. I quickly found that my annotation habits for fiction did not work for me with types of materials I read for graduate studies, (e.g., business, philosophy, migration). So, I now try to collect my annotations—no matter the genre—into a collective filing space.

I live in Algeria in North Africa, I’ve recently picked up an interest to read more by African writers, there is a blog/ website called bobkishybook that is dedicated to African literature, it’s amazing! But thanks to your channel I’ve been presented to a totally new genre to me, it’s like a whole new literary world to enter and discover, I’m really excited!

Thanks , I am a new subscriber. How did you get into these types of books just curious ?

The sticky note method is one I hadn't thought of but I like it. I refuse to highlight and write in my books so that would help a lot. Right now I just use flags which are useful but not fully efficient because of my memory. Thanks for the tip!

I just heard of this book called Tales from Esowon: The Kishi.  A Kishi is a really good looking man that has game and when he gets his woman, he shows his true hyena form and devours her.  Sounds interesting.  lol It's written by a youtuber name Antoine Bandele.  I picked up An Unkindness of Ghost and I'm going to read it very soon.  Thanks so much for Mother of the Sea.  Loved it!  Loved it!

I have recently fallen in love with annotating in my books and I am having such a hard time with my library books at the moment lol Instead I have a little notebook that I've been writing my thoughts in as I read but I definitely prefer having my own copy.

Thank you so much for sharing how you annotate your books! I am always curious about what other people do. I really grew away from writing in my books post-college, but I am slowly bringing it back. I use sticky note tabs as well, and I tend to copy quotes and notes into my journal.

Oh man, that Unkindness of Ghosts cover is fantastic! I love to annotate books too but I listen to a lot of audiobooks. Sometimes when I'm listening to a book I realize I have to go get the physical copy because I need to annotate and mark pages and passages.

I use sticky notes only for library books, because I can take them out (and keep them!). For my own books I always have a pencil with me.

I love how you do all your annotating with sticky notes – I still can't bring myself to write on a page and often flag lines, but I think I need to get some nice big ones so I can write other thoughts without guilt, hehe. Great vid!

I have been loving your channel. I really appreciate you sharing how you annotate books. It's something I've kind of been doing off an on (more so with books I read for my job) but I'm hoping to start doing it more for all of the books I read so I am glad to get your input on the topic! Both of the books you spoke about sound fantastic and I'm definitely going to check them out.

I’m really excited to hear your review of An Unkindness of Ghosts and see what the treat might be! The story by Nnedi Okorafor sounds really intriguing. I love how authors can be so creative with lived realities like pipelines, bureaucracy, etc. It’s pretty admirable. I should annotate more, but sometimes I am too selfish to pause my reading. I also have been reading from the library a lot and I am not sure what a good system might be to annotate without marking the book up. I like all the books you talked about and wish you happy reading this February.

Interesting review! I do not write in my books. I take notes in my journal.

Loving your head wrap. I have added An Unkindness of Ghosts to my TBR list for Fall 2018.:)

The Unkindness of Ghosts cover is stunning. I use color tabs and mini-post its when I can but a majority of the time I can remember what I want to say.

I'm definitely going to check out An Unkindness of Ghosts. Even though you know I hate ghosts in books. LOL! I flag my books and take notes in a journal. I hate writing in books. It makes me feel like I'm back in college.

Annotating books is the best it feels like I'm interacting with the book and the characters. When I'm not did not finishing books (I'm a mass dnfer) or getting library books I use post it notes. For library books I use note tabs.
