Hi Tayah, I have a book recommendation for you. Eddie & Alan is written by black gay author Anthony Amiewalan. It sheds light on the complexities of relationships between men, the fluidity of sexuality, and what happens when the lines are blurred.
New subbie! Love your intro btw:)
Hi Tayah! I just finished Hurricane Summer this weekend. I listened to the audiobook and I loved it! 5/5 stars! I'm Jamaican so hearing the patois and the descriptions of the country made me so happy and the character development was amazing! It was super intense for a YA book in my opinion, however, I still recommend people read it. It was just that good. Songs of Irie will be pre-ordered!
Memphis sounds good!
I’ve had Their Eyes were Watching God on my TBR for a while. Hoping to get to that one this year!
Hey Tayah! First off LOL on your little intro regarding Beyonce's Renaissance world tour.😂 I hope you get the ticket. My sister is also obsessed and waiting to purchase her ticket as well! Okay now to books; I have read Their eyes were watching God back in high school. Great book but I cannot remember much since it's been so long. I have so much new books to go through that revisiting the old ones is just not something I can find time for. Maybe one day. A raisin in the sun sounds interesting. I may pick it up once I get through the books I already own. Thank you!
Oh my gosh! I heard of ‘Black Girls Must Die Exhausted’ somewhere a while ago but I never ever actually realised what it was and now I am SO EXCITED to read it!!!
I hope you love Tiffany D Jackson’s writing as much as I do!!
Great recs! I definitely have a hard time finding thrillers by black authors. I have a handful of authors that I adore like Jennifer Hillier, Rachel Howzell Hall and SA Cosby (authors I’ve read several books by) and I have another few that I’ve only read 1 book by. I’ve read Tiffany D Jackson (several books) but I don’t think she’s the author for me. Keeping my eyes and ears open for debut thriller authors of color. Let me know if you know of any or you read any you think I might like.
I like hearing you talk about Hurricane Summer! I can tell that you love that book lol😆💙
I read Grown last year and it was so good but so sad! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. Allegedly is next on my tbr!
Thanks for the recommendations! I remember reading A Raisin in the Sun back in high school too. Great play.
